Keyword Digest

This Keyword Digest introduces readers to collection of theoretical and conceptual terms drawn from across the social sciences and humanities. It grows out of a simple but important observation: that the language we use to think with is never neutral. Words like identity, aspiration, environmentalism, trans, inclusion and exclusion or agency carry histories, assumptions, and contested meanings that travel across disciplines, and that shift in register and implication depending on the intellectual tradition in which they are put to work. These key terms will aid us in understanding the central methodological, political, and onto-epistemological debates currently structuring the most exciting research in and across the disciplines.
